Early on Wednesday morning, the Feast of the Epiphany, after attending Holy Mass, my wife and I went into Washington, D.C. to pray the Holy Rosary as we (and a dear friend from the Kolbe leadership team) circled the Capitol Building, begging God to convict, convert, cleanse, heal and sanctify us all through the prayers of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This is the second time in the past month that we have undertaken one of these Jericho sieges of prayer, and both times what we have witnessed has confirmed the almost total collapse of true spiritual fatherhood within our Church leadership - along with the almost total loss of Catholic zeal for the Kingship of Christ in this country. On both occasions, there should have been an army of Catholics praying the Holy Rosary behind their Bishops and priest-shepherds for the conversion of our nation and for the reign of Christ the King throughout our land. Instead, on both occasions, with our Rosaries in our hands we were like little pieces of driftwood in a swirling sea of separated brethren, full of zeal but lacking any kind of Godly …

When the Kolbe Center was established twenty years ago, it was almost impossible to find Catholic publications that defended the traditional doctrine of creation from the perspective of theology, philosophy and natural science. Beginning with Eric Bermingham’s Creation vs. Evolution, Fr. Victor Warkulwiz’s The Doctrines of Genesis 1-11, and the proceedings of our first International Catholic Symposium on Creation in Rome in 2002, we have been blessed to publish a whole series of books that thoroughly explain and defend the traditional doctrine of creation. In recent years we have been privileged to discover the work of Mike Gladieux who has devoted several decades to an exhaustive examination of authentic traditional Catholic commentary on Genesis 1-11. I am delighted to announce the publication of his magnum opus as an e-book entitled The Genesis Documents. In more than twenty years of study in this area, I have not encountered any work by a contemporary Catholic author who has so thoroughly researched the riches of traditional Catholic commentary on the sacred history of Genesis. I hope that this work will serve as another powerful tool to help you to understand and defend …
Read More »Dear Friends of the Kolbe Center, Christ is born! Glorify Him! In a recent newsletter, we recalled the words of the great incorrupt Benedictine monk, the Servant of God Dom Prosper Gueranger, regarding the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ: With what gratitude ought they not to assist at that divine Sacrifice, for which the world had been longing for four thousand years! God has granted them to be born after the fulfilment of that stupendous and merciful oblation, and would not put them in the generations of men, who died before they could partake of its reality and its riches! This notwithstanding, they must earnestly unite with the Church, in praying for the coming of the Redeemer, so to pay their share of that great debt which God has put upon all, whether living before or after the fulfilment of the mystery of the Incarnation. Let them think of this in assisting at the holy Sacrifice. On many occasions, we have observed that the acceptance of the Biblical chronology of four thousand years from Creation to the birth of Our Lord has remained a characteristic of the greatest saints right up to the present time, even as modernism has devastated the …

We have often reflected that the original and traditional mission of the Church is to work for the "restoration of all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth." But the mission of the Enlightenment and post-Enlightenment anti-Catholic movements has been to achieve a revolution against the old order of things to achieve a utopian society in the future. Nowadays, these two opposite orientations can be seen reflected in contrasting approaches to spirituality. The traditional approach to the spiritual life seeks a restoration of the original harmony between man and God that existed before the Original Sin. The New Age approach to spirituality seeks a new synthesis where traditional understandings and distinctions give way to a new unity in which all contradictions are resolved. In an essay just posted on the Kolbe website, John Evans at Bible and Spade, demonstrates that the Desert Fathers and Mothers who pioneered and established the pattern for Christian monastic life remained ever mindful of the original holiness of Adam and Eve and the original order of the universe. They did everything with a view to cooperating with the grace of God to …
Read More »Dear Mr. Owen, At the age of 31, after being a confessed atheist for some ten years or more, I experienced a life-changing conversion to Christianity. My parents had both been members of the Australian Communist Party and I had been indoctrinated at home with atheistic teaching. After I had received my initial conversion and was hungry for the Bible and further teaching, I remember reading a book called The Seal of God by F.C. Payne. At the time I was struggling with many questions as I had been much affected by evolutionary teaching, having received this in my History lessons at High School. I remember that when I finished reading The Seal of God, that I was not only absolutely certain of the existence of God, but I also believed that He was the Creator and that the Bible was in fact the inerrant Word of God and that I should accept and obey all it asked of me. I had had a great struggle with the question of who determines truth and that there must be absolutes in truth and this question was now settled for me for once and for all; the Bible was the absolute truth …
